Q: What is Green Vanity’s mission?
A: “Feeling good about looking good!”
Through creative uses of clean energy, recycling and carbon footprint reduction, Green Vanity is changing the way the entertainment and beauty industries do business and impact our precious planet.
Q: What makes “Green Vanity” green?
A: Almost EVERYTHING!
What could be greener than re-purposing a 30 year old , 35' motor home that was destine for a landfill? Let's start with the interior...it was completely refurbished using recycled materials and green products. All of the amenities were made from either recycled or re-purposed items. Other materials were chosen for their light weight (to reduce fuel use) and ability to be cleaned and sanitized without using harsh disinfectants.
A very powerful solar panel system was installed to supply most of the electrical needs including running lights, heaters, computers, water pump and any other appliances that are needed. (Unfortunately, the Air Conditioning units cannot run with solar power. However, we made improvements inside and out of the mobile unit that reduce the demand for air conditioning use. Those include: re-insulating the whole unit, installing a system of fans that circulate air and using energy saving lights that produce very little heat.)
All the products used in and out the unit are green: cleaning solutions, soaps, paper towels, and any beauty product that belongs to the unit. They have been chosen to be the best for the environment without compromising quality or performance.
Every effort is made to support the recycling circle. In our industry there is a lot of waste and much of that waste can be recycled or disposed of in a safer way. Recycling is not just about placing disposables in corresponding bins. Pollutants, such as gray and black water, will be treated with ecological products to ensure that it is decontaminated before dumping it in septic tanks or sewers. Even hair trimmings will be recycled and sent to “Matter of Trust”, an organization that transforms them into mats that maintain moisture and PH levels in soil or used as natural oil absorbent booms that clean up ocean oil spills.
